COVID-19: Omicron CHEC Update

Dear patients, colleagues, optometrists & GP’s,

You will have seen & heard the recent national & international news about the new Omicron variant of COVID-19. The UK government have reintroduced mandatory wearing of facemasks in shops and on public transport in England & there are also changes to the ‘red listed’ countries where travel to and from will not be permitted, & the government have again emphasised the crucial importance of individuals being vaccinated and/ or receiving booster jabs.

CHEC’s directors have considered and discussed this information & concluded that no changes are required to CHEC’s current COVID-19 procedures & these will remain in force for all staff during their working hours.

These are:
👁️ Screening calls will include reference to travel to red list countries & isolation for 10 days as well as negative PCR test before leaving isolation.
👁️ Continued use of appropriate PPE in clinical situations.
👁️ Continued 2m social distancing.
👁️ Continued mask-wearing.
👁️ Continued 20-sec hand washing & use of hand gel.

At the moment NHS & Public Health England have made no changes to their guidance about isolation etc. if healthcare workers are in contact with COVID-19 and this will remain CHEC’s approach.

Just as the government will continue to review the situation and amend their advice as necessary then CHEC will do the same.

👁️ We have also made the decision that all marketing consumables shall be placed online until further notice, to help reduce the risk of COVID-19.

❗WE ARE STILL OPEN FOR ALL THINGS OPHTHALMOLOGY RELATED & WILL UPDATE YOU IF ANYTHING CHANGES IN THE FUTURE ❗
